January 7th, 2020 - “Let’s All Talk About Joy” - Chicago Public Library/Austin Branch

September 24, 2019 - Let’s ALL Talk About Sustainability - The Heritage Restaurant
Let's ALL Talk About Sustainability featured local experts, discussion and a three course meal The Heritage restaurant. Our panel of experts addressed sustainable practices like farm-to-table and looking to the natural world to inspire solutions to problems:
Rachel Hahs: An innovative systems thinker rooted in the firm belief that life-centered design will lead us to a sustainable future, she is a Biomimicry Chicago Network Leader and co-creator of its Deep Roots Initiative, in addition to Think Biomimicry, a blog and resource website. She conducts original research on the topics of disruptive innovation and sustainable/resilient human built environments, and has used biomimicry as an innovation tool to create solutions for challenges such as food insecurity and climate change.
Cheryl Muñoz: “The evening of discussion and thought leadership has inspired me! By bringing people in closer, strengthening our networks and affirming that we have common work ahead of us - we will find equitable paths forward that are inclusive, elegant and sustainable.”
Ana Garcia Doyle: “Connecting in thought and dialogue about our planet's environmental and social challenges, as we did in this TEDxSalon, is exactly what's needed for us to face these challenges head-on and rise to the opportunities they present.”
From her Talk:
“Mother Teresa reminds us, ‘If we have no peace, it’s because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.’ If we choose to accept these words, no one is other and the fate of the whole human species is inextricably linked. You are me and I am you. And WE are Earth. We are the air we breathe and the food we grow. We are the water that sustains us. Humans have proven to be great at othering, but if you look at it this way, there is no other."
